Pathologists

Christie Elliott, M.D.

Dr. Elliott is licensed in Nevada and California and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and forensic pathology. She earned her medical degree from University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in forensic pathology at the Fulton County Medical Examiner in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Elliott serves as a staff pathologist and is the Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory at Renown Regional Medical Center. She has earned the CAP AP3 certification for Multi-Disciplinary Breast Pathology. Dr. Elliott is a member of the Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Pathology at University of Nevada School of Medicine where she lectures and also mentors students at our clinical practice. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists.

Amy Alspach, M.D.

Dr. Alspach is licensed in Nevada and California and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology. She earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her residency at LAC+USC Los Angeles County Medical Center. She has completed a fellowship in hematopathology at Scripps Clinic/Green Hospital in La Jolla, California. Dr. Alspach serves as a staff pathologist at Renown Regional Medical Center. She is also the director of Transfusion Services at Renown Regional Medical Center. She has published in pathology literature. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Hematology..

Joel France, D.O.

Dr. France is licensed in Nevada and New Hampshire, and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as hematopathology. He earned his medical degree from the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans followed by a fellowship in hematopathology at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the College of American Pathologists, and the American Society of Hematology.

Melanie Fox, D.O.

Dr. Fox is licensed in Nevada and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. She serves as a staff pathologist at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Aaron Novotny, D.O.

Dr. Novotny is licensed in Nevada and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology. He earned his medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic. He has completed a fellowship in cytopathology at the University of Colorado Health. Dr. Novotny serves as a staff pathologist at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Jennifer Jeung, M.D.

Dr. Jeung is licensed in Nevada and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology. Dr. Jeung serves as a staff pathologist at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Arash Mohtashamian, M.D.

Dr. Mohtashamian is licensed in Nevada and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He has completed a fellowship in Hematopathology from Northwestern University McGaw Center. He serves as a staff pathologist at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Ernest Hong, M.D.

Dr. Hong is licensed in Nevada and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. He has completed fellowships in surgical pathology and cytopathology at Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Hong serves as a staff pathologist at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Leslieann Gilbert

Leslieann Gilbert is an ASCP-certified Pathologists’ Assistant, licensed in Nevada. Her Bachelor’s degree is in Chemistry and Microbiology obtained at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has a Master of Health Sciences degree from Indiana University’s Pathologists’ Assistant program and serves as the Staff Pathologists’ Assistant at Renown Regional Medical Center. She is a member of both the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Andrew Whitner

Andrew Whitner is an ASCP-certified Pathologists’ Assistant, licensed in Nevada. He obtained his bachelor’s of biology from PCC in Florida and has a master’s of health sciences degree from Quinnipiac University’s Pathologists’ Assistant program. He serves as a Pathologists’ Assistant at Renown Regional Medical Center. He is a member of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
