Sierra Pathology Associates is a pathology specialty group providing to the Northern Nevada community the full spectrum of pathology services, including both inpatient and outpatient surgical pathology, clinical consultation, fine needle aspiration, and autopsy. Sierra Pathology Associates is comprised of a team of consulting pathologists whose combined qualifications enable us to provide professional pathology services of unsurpassed quality in the region. Sierra Pathology Associates was incorporated in 1987 with principal operations at Renown Regional Medical Center and Renown Medical Center South Meadows in Reno, Nevada.
Anatomic Pathology
The scope of anatomic pathology includes primarily the examination of tissues for disease processes. The main branches of anatomic pathology include surgical pathology, cytopathology, and autopsy pathology.
Clinical Pathology
The scope of clinical pathology includes primarily overseeing laboratory testing as performed on blood and various body fluids. The main branches of clinical pathology include clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.
Autopsy Pathology
Sierra Pathology Associates performs hospital autopsies at Renown Regional Medical Center and Renown Medical Center South Meadows. Even with advances in modern medicine, sometimes patients die for unclear reasons.
Fine Needle Aspiration
Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) is a quick and usually reliable method of obtaining a tiny tissue sample of virtually any lump which can be felt. The biopsy is simple, requiring total time less than an hour.
